The White Council was the original alliance of the Free Peoples on the official server, which had the goal of uniting the Free Peoples against the shadow. Its collapse was slow and never made official.

WhiteCouncil

History[]

The White Council was founded on February 1st 2015 by Gondor, the Rangers of the North, the High-Elves, Fangorn, and the Wood-Elves. Unlike many other alliances it was not an official pact and was instead a forum of leading leaders of the Free Peoples who worked together to advance their common interests. The White Council expanded to include both the Dwarven Council and Lothlorien on February 16th 2015 before growing to include Rohan as well.

The White Council went on to take part in conflicts such as the Southern War, the Harad Civil War, the Uruk-Rohan War, the Near Harad Civil War, the Mordor Civil War, the Great War, and the wars of Gladden. When Cookieminers rose to power in Lothlorien in June 2015 he left the White Council and when InternetMiners left Fangorn the faction collapsed. Despite this moderate decline a capital known as Calosto was built by the former King of Rohan, mewarmy. After Celleborn retook the throne of Lothlorien on September 11th 2015 they once again joined the White Council.

It was at this point that the White Council began to stagnate. Believing that the Hobbits, Anduin, Dorwinion, the Woodmen, and Dale were too weak the White Council refused to induct them as members. After Lebennin and Dol Amroth began fighting for independence against Gondor the White Council refused to admit them as members but the entire council also declined to give Gondor military support. When the Great Dominion-Gondor War broke out Lothlorien and the High-Elves refused to take part and after Mordor halted their assault on Arnor the Dwarves withdrew as well, leaving the remainder of the council to fight the war on their own. After the Lossoth were spun off as their own faction they weren't permitted to join as well due to being seen as a small, weak, and isolated faction that had disputes with the dwarves.

Ultimately the death blow to the White Council came in 2019 as they struggled with the decision of adding the powerful Dale faction to the council, which was opposed by the Dwarves due to a longstanding dispute over Laketown. Dale was supported by fellow Coalition of Dawn members Rohan, Gondor, and Arnor and this dispute would spread to encompass Coalition support for the Fangorn rebels, while Lothlorien and the Wood-Elves led the Council in backing the loyalists when the Fangorn Rebellion erupted on April 3rd 2019. On April 11th 2019 fighting broke out between Dale and the Wind-Dwarves due to their numerous disputes and on April 27th 2019 the Dwarven Council terminated its alliance with Arnor. This act destroyed the last semblance of unity within the White Council.

In late 2019 Dale, the Woodmen, Dorwinion, Lebennin, Dol Amroth, Lossoth, the Hobbits, and even Dunland were all added to the White Council, but by now it was simply a forum for good leaders and was no longer a united front against the shadow. This group would later collapse as well due to constant infighting, callouts, and insults between the various leaders.
